Overview
Welcome to the South Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department. We provide safe, fun, affordable facilities, and diverse programs that promote wellness and economic growth to a thriving community. Our city offers many activities for both children and adults in the South Pittsburg Community. For children, we offer basketball, softball, baseball, football and soccer. We also offer swimming, jogging, walking and playground areas. For adults we offer swimming, walking down beautiful tree lined streets, and beautiful pavillions for reservations.
The South Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department is host to three major parks, Loyd Park, Moore Park, and River Park along the Tennessee River. These parks contain ballfields, tennis courts, picnic pavilions, an outdoor swimming pool, a boat ramp, a boat dock, basketball courts, and of course playgrounds. In addition, the Department is host to multiple soccer fields that are located outside of the three major parks.

Recreational Activities
The City offers recreational sports for children ages 3 and older. We offer spring soccer, fall soccer, basketball, baseball, softball and football. All recreational sports are governed by a board of directors that help to make decisions based on the needs of each sport.

Activity Center Reservations
Just recently completed is the beautiful Senior Citizen Activity Center located at 315 Elm Avenue, South Pittsburg. The activity center has been beautifully remodled by our Housing Authority and they have done a wonderful job making an excellent facility to reserve for you families gatherings, wedding receptions, baby or wedding showers or dinner reservations.
The Activity Center will be available for reservations beginning in May 2010. You will be able to download a reservation form at the bottom of the page titled Activity Center Reservation Form. For more information about the reservation of the Activity Center, please contact Jan Brooks at 837-6600.
Facility Reservations
The Parks and Recreation Department offers picnic pavilions and other various facilities for rent to the general public for free or for a small fee, depending on the facility.
If you would like to rent a parks and recreation facility, please see the form at the bottom of this page titled Facility Reservation Form. Please complete the form and return it in one of the ways that is listed on the form.
Park Pool Reservations
We offer reservations for the South Pittsburg Park Pool beginning in April of each year to be booked for birthday parties, celebrations or gatherings. We require a minimum of 2 hour reservation for a $ 100.00 fee. This fee includes pool seclusion from outside guests as well as 2 lifeguards on duty.

Princess Theatre Marquee
Does your business or organization have a special event that you would like to have advertised in lights? Well the Parks and Recreation Department has the perfect solution. Your business or organization can rent the Princess Theatre Marquee to advertise your event.
The Princess Theatre is located in the heart of Downtown South Pittsburg and is a focal point to all those that pass by. The marquee is doubled sided in order to catch the eye of those that pass by in either direction.
Princess Theatre
The Princess Theatre is a beautifully restored multi-purpose theatre located in downtown South Pittsburg. The Theatre has spent its last 12 years in renovation.This theatre is a beautiful addition to our community. We feel that it will generate more business in the community and offer a place to come for movies, plays and other events. It is also available for reservations for your events. If you are interested in possibly reserving the princess theatre for your event please contact Lisa Bradford at lbradford@trinitycable.net.
Upcoming Events
The next event for the City will be the Annual Christmas Parade. This year's Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday; December 3rd at 10:00 am. The Theme for the Christmas Parade will be "The Night Before Christmas in the North Pole". Just imagine what would be going on at the North Pole on the Night Before Christmas! We are hoping to have a large turn out this year and we want to invite everyone to participate in our parade! If you are interested in having a float in our float contest or if you just wish to enter your group or organization in the line up, please call Lisa Bradford at 423-228-3186.
We will be having events in the Princess Theatre in the next couple of months as well, here is a list of upcoming events that will be held at the Theatre:
November 5th will be an interactive movie from the ANIMAL BAND. The Animal Band's, James Moore and lead vocalist is native to South Pittsburg. This is an interactive DVD that is sure to please everyone. It will be a fun filled event to spend with your family. Tickets are on sale now, visit The Animal Band website for more information.
